Magnetic Affixion (2007) “Magnetic Affixion” is a short story engaging the child-like imagination in all of us. Created for four dancers, the choreography is shaped to music by Thomas Newman and other artists. “Magnetic Affixion” plays with an imaginary force that creates a playful bond – to ourselves, our surroundings, and each other. Dancers are tossed around, crash to the floor, jump, and leap to avoid the “stickiness”, while tossing each other around to remove the appearing “permanent” bond created to each other.
Soul Shine (2008) Created originally as a solo and developed later into a small group, “Soul Shine” embodies the ultimate one-sided love and gratification story. This piece was created as a thank-you gift to an inspiring and encouraging loved one.
Ancient Bruises (2008) Featuring music by Regina Spektor and the historical Shipp Sisters, Christine and Katherine, “Ancient Bruises” takes you through a woman’s struggle with independence and domestic violence, and the supportive people around her that , unseen to the woman, help lift her to find a place of peace and security on her own two feet. Influenced by a tragic true story of a small town family, this piece plays with sharp movement contrasting with the slow, flash-back style movement of the soloist to create an organic dissimilarity and truth to this story of struggle, hatred, self-love and strength.
